Who we serve

Staying Connected serves residents in the York City, Central York, York Suburban and Dallastown Area school districts who are 60 or older and living independently, in their own homes, apartments or senior-citizen apartment buildings. We serve people without regard to income, race or religious affiliation.

We offer

How it works

Unlike a taxi cab service, we cannot provide immediate transportation for those in need.

Instead, if you or someone you know could benefit from Staying Connected’s services, call us at 843-5011.

The program director will visit the elder to assess his or her needs, fill out an application, and enroll him or her in the program.
After that, elders in need of our transportation or shopping services will need to call our office at least a week in advance of any appointment or trip.

If we can’t help you

Anyone outside our service area is encouraged to call Lutheran Social Services’ Touch-A-Life program that also serves those in outlying areas of York County, and LSS’s Senior Companion program.

Those under 60 in need of transportation can contact Touch-A-Life.

A word about privacy

Staying Connected’s activities are covered under the federal HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) law and we strictly respect our clients’ confidentiality and privacy.

And about faith

As members of an interfaith organization, many of us are motivated by our faith to take action. But we also respect others’ beliefs. Our core organizational principles prohibit proselytizing, evangelizing and similar activities.

And about NORCS

A NORC is a naturally occurring retirement community. We have some in the area we cover and we are hoping to get money in the next few years to help bring area residents more services. For more details on NORCs, check out this U.S. News & World Report article here.
