Prepare now for the winter
Now is the time to make sure you will be able to pay your heating bills this winter. There are lots of programs available now to help you. They range from home weatherization programs to ways of spreading out your heating bill over the entire year. If you're starting to worry about the costs, or if the elder in your life is growing worried, call Deena Gross at Staying Connected, 717-843-5011. Or drop her an email here.
It's time again to file for your property tax or rent rebate. Income limits are $35,000 for property owners and $15,000 for renters, but only HALF your Social Security income is counted. Rebates can reach $600. The filing deadline has been extended to Dec. 31, 2008. For a form click here.

As part of the national Faith in Action network, our services are available to all, regardless of religious affiliation. They’re provided by caring volunteers from six York County congregations, and others who support our mission.
Finding others to support us can be difficult. It may be hard to ask for help and sometimes, family and friends are facing their own challenges, or have moved away or died. But there are alternatives.
